2 Roy Marsh Suffolk 256 BOU 262 UK 400 Congratulations to Robin in what was a convincing victory in the end. However I was pleased to finish well up on the rest of the Suffolk boys with a very convincing 14 point gap and my very limited holiday days in the county this year. So happy new year to all, and happy birding for 2005. 2004 Highlights: Citrine Wagtail, Glossy Ibis, Blue-winged Teal, Cory's, Bairds Sandpiper, (County ticks) also, finding Suffolk’s first Lesser Scaup. Other highlights for 2004: Fudge Duck, LEO's, B N (Sum Plum), R N + Slav Grebes, Ring Billed, Glaucous + Iceland Gulls, Red Kite, Golden Pheasants, Twite (After many hours and more walked miles than they were worth!!), Great Grey Shrike, (Norhern Long-tailed Tits), 4 Puffins, Green-winged Teal, Raven, Alpine Swift, Spoonbills, Common Crane, Quail - (Best views ever!), Hoopoe, Ring Ouzels, 2 Stunning Red Backed Shrikes, Temminks Stints, Superb Golden Orioles, Purple Heron - (3 trips and 12hours !), Honey Buzzard, Superb Icky, Monty's, Red Footed Falcon, Savi's, Marsh Warbler, Manxies, Roseate Tern, excellent Adult White-rumped Sandpiper (2) + scorching Common Rosefinch. LT Skua, Sooties, Osprey, 2 Wrynecks, best on the 11th at LBO, Cory's Shearwater (2), Leach's, Stormies (2) Adult Sabs, Yellow-browed, superb Palas's, Serin, Dusky up to 3rd November. Scilly's. the Courser and Western Sand may have cost me the county record this year, but any new birds have to be grabbed at !! Plus of course, Masked Shrike 31/10

Three county ticks though - Red-rumped Swallow (which I found), Nightjar and Manx Shearwater. Couldn't really count a flyover Little Bunting and an apparently wild Lesser White-fronted Goose (also self-found).

Just added Red Grouse , hope to get Waxwing tomorrow !! Could be better , dipped a Leach's Storm-petrel & Common Scoter @ Ellesmere plus Firecrest @ Priorslee flash , still , highlights for 2004 in the green county are : Great Grey Shrike on Brown Clee , Ring Ouzel ( cracking male ) , Bittern ( always good ) , 2 Pectoral Sandpipers , Long-eared Owl , Little Stint , Goshawk & Wood Sandpiper all on local patch !! Finding a Wood Warbler ( first one for 2004 in the county I believe ? ) . Smew ( drake at that ) , 2x Black-necked Grebe , 5x Little Egrets , Osprey & both flycatcher species in the same tree !!!
