SOUTH-EAST BRAZIL > SERRA DOS TUCANOS

Serra dos Tucanos

Serra dos Tucanos is now a well established lodge for birders situated within the 46,000ha "Tres Picos" State Park in the heart of the Atlantic rain forest, south-east Brazil. The comfortable lodge sits in over 50 acres of private forested grounds where we have now recorded over 200 species, of which 50+ are Atlantic forest endemics! Our feeding stations have been nominated as some of the best in world and offer great opportunities for photography.

With our expert guides we offer various birding excursions that cover the whole elevational range of the Serra do Mar mountains, increasing your chance of seeing as many species and endemics as possible. Our total bird list for the local area is now over 480 species. Having birded the area for over 8 years we have built up a wealth of knowledge of where to find many species, especially some of those harder to get specialities such as Grey-winged Cotinga!

Green-headed Tanager Spot-billed Toucanet

The lodge offers very comfortable en-suite accommodation, home cooked food, swimming pool, photographic hide, easy access to all other birding sites and various trails within the grounds, this makes it an excellent base to stay and see some truly fantastic birds!

We are situated just one and a half hours drive from Rio de Janeiro and offer transfers from the airport or hotels. For a full species list and further information please either visit our website or e-mail Andy or Cristina at: serradostucanos@hotmail.com
