The Greater Sandplover that I saw on 3/3/01 at Stinson Beach (north of San Francisco, Calif.) is definitely the best bird of the year and for many years to come. Other great birds so far are Ruff and Hooded Merganser (Davis, Calif.) My goal for my 2001 Year List is to bring it up to 350.
