Brian Small has commented on the images of the Dungeness Gull as follows:

" It is difficult to stereotype gulls and some smithsonianus may possibly look like this, but so do argenteus. Structurally this gull could be smithsonianus, but looks quite typical of argenteus - smithsonianus in life often have a more argentatus-like structure, with great bills. Plumage-wise it is nothing special: the wash on the hindneck and underparts is not very strong; the contrast between mantle and darker coverts is pretty typical for argenteus; the pattern of the coverts is matched by many argenteus - indeed the greater coverts are poor for smithsonianus; the tertials are worn - perhaps unusual for smithsonianus in early Dec - but shows good notching up the outer edge, typical of worn argenteus. What is all the fuss about? If you look at any roost of Herring Gull in Britain you can find birds that look like this."
