| TUSCANY > PODERE BELLAVISTA FARMHOUSE

Nestling on the slopes of Monte Faete, the genuinely and aptly named ‘Bella Vista’ is a newly restored, tastefully furnished four bedroom farmhouse set in twelve hectares of rolling meadows. The house is offered on a self-catering basis for a minimum period of one week. Changeover day is normally Saturday, but in less busy periods this can be altered to suit people's needs.
Both house and gardens command breathtaking views of hills and valleys. Equipped with a 12 x 6 m swimming pool, the house nonetheless retains its traditional stone and timber charm. The spacious kitchen/dining room makes for easy, comfortable cooking, eating and socialising, and is fully equipped with dish washer and washing machine, as well as all the more obvious essentials.
South of ‘Chiantishire’, within easy reach of Siena and Florence to the north, and Rome to the south, lies the Alta Maremma, an area of dramatic vistas, forested mountains, sweeping valleys and ancient hilltop towns. The Alta Maremma provides great birding, hiking and cycling country.
The farmhouse is very near the WWF reserve of Rocconi, the Parco dell'Ucellina and Parco Naturale della Maremma . Being a largely sheepfarming area, there is a huge range of wild flowers, butterflies, and larger animals such as porcupine, hare, boar, deer and of course birds. The area is well known for Lanners, Short-toed Eagles, Honey Buzzards, Bee-eaters, Hoopoes, Wallcreepers, Stone- Curlews etc.
The region is scattered with Etruscan and Roman remains, as well as medieval and Renaissance towns and villages. Siena, with its Renaissance splendour, is just over an hour away, and makes a worthwhile day trip. Florence is about an hour further on. From Grosseto, the centre of Rome is little more than a couple of hours by train.
