Welcome to the Birding Hotline for Interior Alaska as of February 8, 2012.


A number of RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHs seem to have survived
the cold spell. Birds have been reported from the Goldstream Valley,
Chena Hotsprings Rd, and off of Fairbanks Street.

Two AMERICAN ROBINS were seen in a yard on Riverview Drive
on February 2.

A BALD EAGLE has been seen for about a week in the Doyon Estates
along the Chena River.

Upcoming events include:
Ecosystem Reassembly on Kasatochi will be presented on February 13
at 7:00 pm at the Noel Wien Library Auditorium. Derek Sikes, Curator
of Entomology, UA Museum of the North, will discuss the colonization
of the island by terrestrial arthropods three years post-eruption

The 15th Annual Great Backyard Bird Count will take place February
17-20, 2012. . Information is available at www.birdcount.org
