--SHORT-EARED OWL (27+) - at Kininvie Marsh and Kitsim Reservoir near Brooks with the greatest concentration around the Kitsim Project Slough's reported by Malcolm & Joan McDonald and Jerry Pilny.
--LONG-EARED OWL (1) - in Loop B at Tillebrook PP, SE of Brooks by M & JM and JP.
--VESPER SPARROW (3) - at Kininvie Marsh SE of Brooks by M & JM and JP.
--COMMON GRACKLE (6+) - at Kinbrook Island PP near Brooks by M & JM and JP.
--CASPIAN TERN (4 - 6) - at Kitsim Reservoir SE of Brooks by M & JM and JP.
--AMERICAN BITTERN (1) - at Kininvie Marsh by JP.
--EURASIAN WIGEON (1) - at Cattleland Feedlots Slough in the NE corner of Hwy 817 & 564 junction north of Strathmore by Terry Korolyk.
--AMERICAN / EURASIAN WIGEON HYBRID (1) - at above location by TK.
--MARSH WREN - (1) at Frank Lake east of High River by Greg Wagner and group.

SIGHTINGS FOR APRIL 25

--GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL ( 1 first cycle) - at Browning Ferris Industries Landfill on 194 Ave SE off Macleod Trail in Calgary by TK. The bird was at a pond just west of the BFI Landfill Gate.
--LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL (1 adult) - at the Browning Ferris Industries Landfill on 194 Ave SE by TK. The Gull was at a large pond east of the Cement Plant.
--THAYER'S GULL (1 first year and 1 second year) - at the BFI Landfill by TK.
--BONAPARTE'S GULL (3) - 2 Gulls seen by TK on a slough NE of Millarville south of Calgary and ! Gull reported by Andrew Slater at McElroy Slough on the north side of Hwy 1 at Chestermere Lake east of Calgary.
--YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER (3) - 2 seen by Keith Hitchon at the University of Calgary and 1 at Inglewood Bird Sanctuary in S/E Calgary reported by Allen Cole.
--BREWER'S BLACKBIRD (2) - along Inverlake Rd N/E of Chestermere Lake by Andrew Slater.

--FOX SPARROW (1) - seen by Shirley Hartig in her yard 4 miles north of High River.
--GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL (1 first cycle) - at Browning Ferris Landfill on 194 Ave SE by TK. The Gull was on a pond on the Blue Devil Golf Course adjacent to the Inland Cement Plant.
--THAYER'S GULL (1) - at Browning Ferris Landfill on 194 Ave SE in Calgary by TK.

BIRD STUDY GROUP - Meet September - May, 7:30 PM on the 1st Wednesday of the month, Room 211, BioSciences Bldg, University of Calgary. The next meeting is Wednesday, May 6, with this month's presentation by Eric Tull - Birding the Grasslands - Non - Passerines. Doors open at 7:00 PM.

Fri May 1, 7am: Monthly Elbow River Birding Survey. Meet Stanly Park, 42 Ave SW, just W of Macleod Tr. Walk to Glenmore Reservoir,

Sat May 2, 8:am: Birding Irricana Sloughs area for shorebirds, waterfowl, etc. Meet E of Deerfoot Tr on 64 Av NE, S into Deerfoot Mall, turn E, park on N side. Leader, Eric Tull, 403-295-0830.

Sat May 2, 8:30am: Birding Mallard Point, E end of Canyon Meadows Dr SE. Leader, Jim Washbrook, 403-271-0923.

Sun May 3, 8:30am: Birding for early migrants, Carburn Park. S from Glenmore Tr at 18 St SE to second stoplight, then right & follow signs. Meet parking lot. Leader, Andrew Hart, 403-279-5209.
