Subject: [bcbirdingvanisland] Western Screech Owl

Hi,
I received a note from a Parks Canada biologist who encountered a Western Screech Owl on the night of January 29th. While she was driving from Tofino to Ucluelet the owl struck her car. She stopped,
got out and found it. It was unconscious, but seemed to be breathing. She put it on the passenger seat and continued on down the road. After some minutes, she heard a noise and saw that the owl was perched on her dash. She turned on to a side road rolled down the window. The owl sat on her hand for a few minutes (which she extended out the window) and then flew off.
