*Results of HSBC Nagpur Bird Race:*

The HSBC Nagpur Bird Race was a grand success! In all nearly 200 birders
participated in birdwatching on the day (6th January, 2008).

There were birders from 7 to 70 years old. The winners are as follows:

Highest Tally of species:

*1st prize:* Team Laggar Falcon,

Captain: Rohan Chakravarty:154 spp. Members: Pallavi Talvare, Anand Kohale,
Rohit Chakravarty

*2nd Prize*: Team: Great Crested Grebe.

Captain: Nandkishor Dudhe, 152 spp. Members: Ravi Pawar, Kranti Rokade,
Rahul Buche.

*3rd Prize:* Joint winners Team: Osprey and Team Barheaded Goose. Captains:
Swapnil Kuldiwar and Vivek Shegaonkar. Members: Nihal Kumble, Pranav
Chahande, Shripad Chandrayan, KetkiGade, Pooja Godbole, Shivani and Rasika.

137 spp.

Prize fro Bird of the Day went to Team: Openbill.

Captain: Laxmikant Harkare. Members: Ameet Girhe, Mukesh Srivastava, Udayan
Patil.

*Special felicitations:*

Dr. Anil Pimplapure, Mr. Jayant Wadatkar and Mr. Parag Sawji were
felicitated at the hands of guests for their work in the field of birds in
Vidarbha.

The chief guests for the evening function was *Mr. B. Majumdar, PCCF
(Wildlife),* Maharashtra and Mr. Ram Indurkar, (Retd. PCCF) Vidarbha Nature
and Human Science Centre (VNHS), Nagpur, Mr. Sunjoy Monga, eminent
naturalist from Mumbai and Mr. Trevor Fernandes, AVP, HSBC were present for
the prize distribution.

The Coordinators for the programme were:

Raju Kasambe, Dr. Anil Pimplapure & Mr.Parag Sawji

The function was held at Hotel Hardeo, Sitabuldi, Nagpur.

I thank all the birdwatchers in and around Nagpur for Participating in the
HSBC Nagpur BirdRace.

I thank *Mr. Sunjoy Monga* for giving this opportunity to me to organise
such a nice event in Nagpur.
