Yesterday afternoon, my non-birding spouse (I try) took a picture of a small heron along the roadside on Meadowdale Road near the intersection with Overlook Lane. Although it's not the best of shots, it appears to be a Green Heron. Two expert birders I shared the photo with also thought it was a Green Heron. I posted the photo to hmbirds in a folder called Alden Pics.
A quick look in e-birds shows only a handful of Green Herons in all of the northeast since January 1 with the nearest one in New York City. I know it's been warm, but this is extremely early. I'd appreciate any suggestions from others in this group, and I'd like to express my appreciation to Penny for thinking to take the picture!
