A three hour jaunt at the Phipps Preserve with my wife, Ann, produced 53 species of birds, including Brown Creeper and Golden-crowned Kinglet.

Feeding guilds produced most of the land birds including the Brown Creeper and Golden-crowned Kinglet.

Ruby-crowned Kinglets are abundant this year, but watch for Golden-crowns, usually foraging higher up and associated with coniferous trees.

Ring-necked Ducks were plentiful on Lake Jackson. Presumably the duck hunters were in church or preparing for the SuperBowl.

The pond on the Southwest corner of the Preserve had Killdeer, Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs, Wilson's Snipe, Least Sandpiper and SB Dowitcher.

I am off next weekend for my annual New England sweep, looking for Little Gull and Dovekie. Wish me luck.
