I checked the Lexington street (woodbine) that has been having nest over
the past few years. There did not seem to be an active nest, outside a
Cooper's Hawk nest, which may have something to do with the absence of
the night-herons. A resident said there was at least one nest last year.

On Sat. 12 May 7 birders celebrated the International Migratory Bird
Day by doing our annual spring bird count, Granville and Thelma Cox,
Roseanna Denton, Gay Hodges, Laura Kamperman, Laura Obiso and Arlene
Morton.

We tallied 120 species with 26 warbler species.

Our most notable misses were Broad-winged Hawk and Louisiana Waterthrush.

Eleven birders in Calloway County celebrated International Migratory Bird
Day May 12,2012. We had 119 species including three for the count week.
Can't brag on the warblers, but the number of species was very

A rainy mother's day found me trapped inside at the in-laws (Russell
County). After having seen a Blue Grosbeak out the kitchen window in
