I had a male prothonotary loudly singing the past two afternoons along the Olentangy bikepath south of Antrim park. If I continue to hear him next week I'll consider looking for a nest (although I don't want to spook the poor guy, especially one on potentially new territory!).

This is a private wetland on a very low traffic road. I don't trespass, but

Great mudflats have finally emerged with the draining of Lorain Impoundment, and they were teeming with sandpipers late this afternnon:

There is a orange "snow" fence being erected along the western edge, but no signage of any sort yet.

I did some birding near home again yesterday, and found (mostly heard) some good birds for my area (Poland/Coitsville Twps.): red-shouldered hawk, pileated woodpecker, e. wood-pewee, Acadian flycatcher, alder flycatcher, e. phoebe, white-eyed vireo, red-eyed vireos, n. rough-winged swallows, wood thrush, Am. redstarts, scarlet tanager, rose-breasted grosbeaks, indigo buntings, and

The molting adult Red-throated Loon found Sunday by Edward Kamposek is still present as of 7:15 a.m. tuesday the 22nd, close to shore off the Edgewater State Park swimming beach. I took many digiscoped photos that will be posted later on http://www.northnw.wordpress.com

I usually have so many of them for a few days in mid to late May that their song beings to irritate me. I haven't heard a single Tennessee yet this year.
I did have a yard bird first yesterday. A male hooded warbler.
