I arrived before 6:30, in time to see a large bat and hear Pacific
chorus frogs living up to their name. A Hutton's Vireo alternated
between the same 2 songs for 10 min straight, until the nature

I took a chance on the weather and birded the nature preserve this
morning. The highlight was a singing male Black-throated Gray
Warbler, my FOS (first of season). Another highlight was the
Orange-crowned Warbler to Yellow-rumped Warbler ratio, about 3 to 1.

My heart sank as I drove to White Slough this morning, since as soon
as I reached farm habitat, thick Tule fog blanketed the ground. I
