At Last!!! After years of moaning about why oh why has there never been a GREEN-WINGED TEAL at Belvide, today was the day it was finally put to bed. I picked it out this afternoon on the north shore opposite the West End Hide and punched the air with relief and delight. The bird was still present at 4.45pm at least.

First of all it is with great sadness to hear of the passing away of West Midland birding legend John Fortey. John will be remembered along with Eric Phillips for finding Britain's first White Tailed Plover at Little Packington Gravel Pits. Fondly known as the General by some of us Belvide regulars, John's skill and expertise in the field was admired throughout the 60's, 70's, 80's and up to the mid 90's when he left the region to live near Dawlish Warren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Today the 2 Knot were still present. The adult Mediterranean Gull roosted again this evening, also 2 Yellow-legged Gulls including an adult and 2nd winter. A Water Rail was seen from the Scott hide and a Shelduck was seen this morning.
