Today that special May bird arrived for me. After sitting in the West End Hide this morning , my first scan revealed very little other than 5 Ringed Plover and 1 Dunlin. On the second scan I dropped on a stunning adult pale morph POMARINE SKUA sat on the north shore pecking at a Canada Goose egg. After a short while the bird took flight and showed it's splendid spoon on the end of the tail. It then sat on the water between 1020-1047 when it took off and headed out north east. This is the 3rd record for Belvide following the last one on December 7th 2006.
Todays wader passage included 14 Ringed Plover, 8 Dunlin and 2 LRP. 1 Arctic Tern was present this morning with 12 Common Tern. The imm drake Goldeneye and Wigeon were still present also 2 Shelduck were new arrivals.
