BELVIDE BIRDING

• Monday, May 22, 2006 - Belvide 22nd May 2006 Heavy Showers NW 4

A much better days birding today started with 2 super Little Terns that dropped in during a shower at 1.40pm. They whizzed around the reservoir till 2.10pm when they flew off north east. A report of 2 Little Terns at Marbury country park Cheshire at 4.55pm were probably our birds.

At 3.05pm the breeding pair of Oystercatchers became very agitated, I looked skyward to be greeted by a fine Osprey. It flew just south of the main reservoir and started to hover over a small carp fishery. After a few minutes it dived in and came out with a small fish and landed in a nearby tree. After a lot of harassment from the local Crows it flew up and drifted off south.

At 4.20pm 2 Sanderling flew thru to the west also 2 Dunlin were present on the north shore. The water level continues to rise with all this rain we are having.

Finaly a Hobby was seen a couple of times this afternoon.
