BELVIDE BIRDING

• Saturday, July 8, 2006 - Belvide 8th July 2006 Cloudy W 3

A decent day today with a Long Eared Owl roosting in the south east bay scrub the highlight. For the last 3-4 years this has been a regular occurance with birds turning up this time of year and present thru to November. Also new today was an adult and Juvenile Black Necked Grebe. Waders seen were 5 Common Sand, 4 LRP and 8 Oystercatcher. The pair of Spotted Flycatchers are still feeding their young and one of the adults was seen with a Purple Hairstreak in its bill, the first one to be seen this year!
