BELVIDE BIRDING

• Tuesday, July 18, 2006 - Belvide 18th July 2006 Sunny NE 1-2

The Lesser Spotted Woodpecker again showed well on the woodland feeding station. It showed at 4.10 and 5.20 pm. I'm not sure if its an immature male or female. Although it has a slight amount of red on the crown, a young bird might be born with a red crown as with Great Spotted Woodpecker so it could be moulting this out. (comments on this please) Also present was the Juv Black Necked Grebe, 11 LRP, 2 Green Sand, 2 Common Sand, 1 Oystercatcher and 14 Common Tern.
