BELVIDE BIRDING

• Monday, August 14, 2006 - Belvide Cloudy WNW 3

Bird of the day was a juvenile Wood Sandpiper (photo) at the west end, another Belvide year tick. A Grasshopper Warbler was caught by the ringing group this morning along with a Lesser Whitethroat and 13 Reed Warbler. A drake Scaup was also a new arrival. The 2 Garganey were still present and Shoveler have increased to 38. Other waders present were 6 Greenshank, 4 Dunlin, 4 Ringed Plover, 3 Common Sand, 1 Green Sand and 1 Curlew. The Lesser Spotted Woodpecker was again present and an immature male Peregrine was seen this afternoon.
