BELVIDE BIRDING

• Wednesday, August 23, 2006 - Belvide Heavy thundery Rain SW 2

An excellent day with a small fall of common migrants. These included a female Redstart and a juvenile Whinchat at the west end. A Tree Pipit flew over to the south at 9.48am, a Wheatear on the north shore 6 Lesser Whitethroat including 4 together below the dam, 8 Whitethroat, 2 Garden Warbler, 5 Spotted Flycatcher and 5 Yellow Wagtail. 2 Black Tern dropped in at 5pm also a juvenile Arctic Tern and 10 Common Tern. The juvenile Black-necked Grebe and 3 Garganey were still present also 4 Wigeon, 1 Shelduck and 27 Pochard. Common Sand have increased to 12 also 8 Greenshank and 1 Green Sand.Finally the Lesser Spotted Woodpecker was on the car park feeders and 1 Hobby dashed thru.
