BELVIDE BIRDING

• Sunday, September 17, 2006 - Belvide Fair W 1

The main item of news today was a dark morph HONEY BUZZARD that flew thru to the south at 11.10 am. Early signs are that it could be another invasion year as in 2000.An immature Pied Flycatcher in the reservoir plantation was a new bird for the year. Other migrants seen were 1 Spotted Fycatcher, 1 Whitethroat, 3 Blackcap, 1 Reed Warbler and 2 Yellow Wagtail. A skywatch off the dam between 0800-0915 produced 250 Swallow, 16 House Martin, 5 Sand Martin and 65 Meadow Pipit all moving south/south west. The 2 Little Stint were still present along with 2 Ruff, 1 Black-tailed Godwit and 3 Dunlin. 2 Ruddy Shelduck dropped in briefly at 10.50am also 2 Pintail, 82 Wigeon, and 244 Teal.
