BELVIDE BIRDING

• Thursday, October 19, 2006 - Belvide Showers S 4

A female Teal with a bulbous red band on the bill got me wracking my brains to the birds identity. Investigating on the internet when I got home revealed the bird to be a Common Teal with a red saddle fitted to the bill. This is part of a banding scheme in Portugal. Unfortunatly I couldn't get the code, but appears to have 2 black digits. Other birds present included the 1st winter Little Gull morning only, 208 Golden Plover, 1 Ruff, 1 Dunlin, also 100 GC Grebe and 54 Cormorant.
