BELVIDE BIRDING

• Friday, December 8, 2006 - Belvide Fair NW 3

What a 24 hours it has been. This morning a LEACH'S PETREL was found sat on the water infront of the Scott hide. The bird appeared in good condition as it frequently took flight dodging the chasing BH Gulls. It was present till 2.45pm when it appeared to fly off to the south west. This is the 4th record for Belvide, the 3rd one I have seen and the first since September 1989. With all this excitement not much else was noted other than a Peregrine this morning. A Woodcock flushed from the reservoir plantation was a late item of news. Leach's Petrel photo by Pete Hackett
