A late afternoon visit to do the gull roost produced a smart adult Caspian Gull (photos). Also 4 Yellow-legged Gull, 2 adults, 1 3rd winter, 1 1st winter. The photos below show the distinct long parallel bill with a weak gony angle. Also the smiling gape line that extends almost underneath the eye is another good feature. See also the dark coloured eye. On the bottom picture see the distinct underwing pattern. The long white tip to primary 10 followed by a black band that extends up the outer web of the wing, which creates a white tongue when the wing is closed. Both photos by Roger Clay
