BELVIDE BIRDING

• Wednesday, January 24, 2007 - Belvide Fair NNE 2

A Lesser Spotted Woodpecker was seen at the western end of the reservoir plantation late morning. 2 Siskin and 7 Lesser Redpoll were near the Gazebo hide. The cold weather has brought a small influx of Coot with 240 counted, also 89 Greylag Geese. Another good gull roost this evening with the 1st winter Mediterranean Gull again, 3500 LBB Gull, 5 GBB Gull, 100 Herring Gull, 5 Yellow legged Gull and 10 Common Gull. The hoped for Glaucous or Iceland gull still eludes us but hopefully any day now, one will drop in.

• Wednesday, January 24, 2007 - Med Gull

Posted by SMW
The recent Worcs 1st-w Med had extensive pale grey upperparts with only 2 'grey slithers' in tertials on one soie and just one slither on the other. The bill was 2/3 dull flesh at base and the 'medium mask' had a slight grey extension up over the hand-crown.
