BELVIDE BIRDING

• Sunday, March 18, 2007 - Belvide Wintery Showers WNW 5-6

The wildfowl count was very disappointing with 62 Wigeon, 41Teal, 20 Gadwall, 45 Mallard, 6 Shoveler, 19 Pochard, 64 Tufted Duck, 12 GC Grebe, 2 Little Grebe, 52 Canada Geese, 4 Greylag Geese and 4 Grey Heron. Oystercatchers have increases to 5 also 3 Redshank and 2 Curlew. Only 6 Sand Martin were seen this morning and 7 Chiffchaff were counted. This evening 9 Curlew roosted also 5 Golden Plover flew over and a Peregrine was seen.

9 Curlews, 5 Golden Plovers flew over, and a Peregrine almost emptied the west end of birds as it had a go at everything, before flying away south.

There was a blizzard, rumbles of thunder and several flashes of lightning.
