BELVIDE BIRDING

• Sunday, April 15, 2007 - Belvide Misty Start Then Sunny E 1

The first Sedge Warbler of the year was singing in the west marsh this morning with the single Redwing still in attendance. A female Wheatear was on the north side infront of the barn conversions. A single Yellow Wagtail flew over high to the north. 2 Little Ringed Plover were flying around but soon disappeared in behind the long grass that is hampering viewing waders at the moment. A small increase in Willow Warbler was noted with 4 counted. The adult and 2 juvenile Tawny Owls were again high up in the reservoir plantation and prooving to be quiet a crowd attraction. The duck count this morning included 42 Teal, 5 Wigeon, 2 Shelduck, 40 Mallard, 60 Gadwall, 2 Pochard, 3 Shoveler, 203 Tufted Duck, 100 Coot, 26 GC Grebe, 50 Canada Geese and 15 Mute Swan.
