BELVIDE BIRDING

• Monday, April 23, 2007 - Belvide Rain SW 1-2

4 Reed Warblers were new arrivals, 2 infront of the Scott hide and 2 in the Gazebo bay. A female Wheatear was on the muck heaps below the dam, also single Hobby and Cuckoo were near the Gazebo hide. 3 Whitethroat and a single Garden Warbler were still present but there seemed less Sedge Warbler today. The rainy conditions brought much higher hirrundine counts with 250 Sand Martin, 100 Swallow, 50 House Martin and 30 Swift. 6 Dunlin and a Ringed Plover flew thru mid morning also 3 Common Sandpiper and 2 LRP were counted. 2 Common Tern dropped in late afternoon and a Pink-footed Goose was seen with 8 Greylag Geese.The adult and 2 juvenile Tawny Owls were still in the reservoir plantation.
