BELVIDE BIRDING

• Friday, May 11, 2007 - Belvide Cloudy with Rain mid pm

Birds of the day in a Belvide perspective were 2 Egyptian Geese (photo) at the western end. This is only the 4th ever record for the reserve. Other new arrivals were a single Whimbrel on the north shore when it flew out west at 5.30pm. Also on the north shore was a Greenshank, 14 Dunlin, 1 Ringed Plover, 1 Redshank and 2 LRP. 2 Arctic Tern were also new in. A Hobby was seen a couple of times this afternoon and 3 Yellow Wagtails were at the west end. The reservoir was carpeted with at least 2000 Swift also 200+ Swallow and 200+ House Martin. The immature male Goldeneye and drake Wigeon were still present also a single Teal.
