BELVIDE BIRDING

• Friday, June 8, 2007 - Belvide Overcast NE 1 BELVIDE MEGA ALERT

The hard work finally paid off. As I arrived in the Scott hide this afternoon I picked up an adult summer WHISKERED TERN flying around off the dam. This is the second record for Belvide following a record on the 27th April 1969 and the 4th Staffordshire record. The bird showed very well paticulaly this evening at the west end. It was present until 8.35pm when it flew off high to the south. When a bird like this turns up it just sums up the joys of local patch work and the rewards and joy to many people it brings. Many thanks to those who gave a donation. Just over £60 was collected, which will go towards food for the feeding station. The only other birds noted were the 2 drake Red-crested Pochards.
