BELVIDE BIRDING

• Sunday, July 15, 2007 - Belvide Heavy Rain E 2-3

Not a bad afternoons birding. The Long Eared Owl was again roosting along the south east bay scrub. A male Whinchat was feeding in a wheat field beyond the west marsh. A Lesser whitethroat was in the hedge behind the Bryant hide and 3 adult Common Gull flew thru to the north. Common Sandpiper have increased to 8 also there were 4 Oystercatcher. The wildfowl count produced 6 Teal, 12 Pochard, 116 Tufted Duck, 6 Gadwall, 95 Mallard, 753 Coot, 1 Greylag and 107 Mute Swan. There were still 20 adult Common Tern + 5 chicks.
