BELVIDE BIRDING

• Saturday, July 21, 2007 - Belvide Steady Drizzle/Light Rain NNE 2

A touch of movement today with 6 adult Arctic Terns replacing the 2 birds from yesterday. 5 were seen to fly off to the west at 10.05am. Common Tern have also increased to 26. A drake Common Scoter was also a new arrival. A single Dunlin flew thru and 4 Common Sandpiper were counted. The Long-eared Owl was a gain present along the south east bay scrub. A Lesser Whitethroat was near the Bryant hide and Pochard have increased to 22.

With the rain continuing for the last 34+ hours the reservoir has again gone back up th maximum level. The boundary ditch along the Gazebo bay has again burst its banks flooding the footpath. This path is only passable with wellingtons.
