BELVIDE BIRDING

• Sunday, August 5, 2007 - Belvide Sunny SE 2-3

The Osprey was seen again today, firstly at 8.05am then again at 9.40am. Each time it was hammered by several Common Terns until it could take no more and drifted off south. The Long-eared Owl has reappeared again in the south east bay scrub, it was right out in the open until it saw me and then moved deep into cover. A single Whimbrel flew thru to the west at 7.35 this morning also there were 2 Common Sandpiper on the dam wall. 3 Yellow Wagtail were below the dam and a single drake Wigeon was at the west end. The first Water Rail of the autumn was on the north shore.
