BELVIDE BIRDING

• Wednesday, September 19, 2007 - Belvide Showery WSW 3-4

A much better days birding with a Bar-tailed Godwit being a new arrival and a new bird for the year. A juvenile Scaup between the Gazebo and bryant hide was also a new bird for the year. A juvenile Merlin (photo)sat on the north shore for 5 mins mid afternoon before continuing west. Also an immature Peregrine and Hobby were also seen today. 4 Ringed Plover, 1 Dunlin and 1 Common Sandpiper were present. 5 Pintail and a couple of Sand Martin were also noted. The ringing group caught 11 Chiffchaff, 1 Lesser Whitethroat and 3 Goldcrest. The last planned session will be this Saturday from 6am.
