BELVIDE BIRDING

• Friday, September 21, 2007 - Belvide Overcast with heavy showers mid pm SSW 3-4

The main highlight today was a CETTI'S WARBLER (photo) trapped and ringed near the Scott hide this evening. This is the 3rd record for the reserve and the first for 2 years. 2 juvenile Arctic Tern were present including a new bird. The juvenile Scaup was still present also an eclipse drake Mandarin (photo), 5 Pintail and 112 Shoveler were counted. 5 Golden Plover, 1 Ringed Plover and 1 Common Sandpiper were the only waders noted. Migrants seen today included 1 Wheatear, 1 Whitethroat, 1 Reed Warbler, still several Chiffchaff and 6+ Sand Martin along with 150+ House Martin. An immature Peregrine was also seen this afternoon.
