BELVIDE BIRDING

• Thursday, October 18, 2007 - Belvide Fair Calm-N 1

With the weather almost flat calm with clear sky's the last bird I would expect to see was a Leach's Petrel. But amazingly one was found by Bernie Smith and Terry Thomas at noon. It spent the afternoon sat on the water and occasionaly chased around by BH Gulls. It was present until 5.30pm when it flew off to the south west. This is the 6th record for Belvide and hot on the heels after 2 birds in December of last year. Also present today was the Grey Plover, 235 Golden Plover, a drake Goosander, a 2nd winter Yellow-legged Gull in the roost and the wheatear still on the north shore.
