BELVIDE BIRDING

• Saturday, November 24, 2007 - Belvide Patchy Rain SW 3-4

A beautiful adult Caspian Gull (photos) showed well on the south shore by the Bryant hide between 10.50-11.17am when it flew off south west. On the photos note the longish parallel sided bill with a weak gonys angle, the small dark beady eye. The head is small with shallow sloping forehead, also the bird has a bulging high breasted appearance at rest. The long white tip to the underside of the far wing can also be seen and the long almost shank like straw coloured legs are very noticable. On size it looked the same as the Lesser Black Backed Gulls so it could well be a female bird.

The Redshank was still present also 35 Siskin along the gazebo bay, 4 Lesser Redpoll, 2 Stonechat also 442 Teal and 292 Coot were counted.
