BELVIDE BIRDING

• Saturday, December 1, 2007 - Belvide Fair SW 4

The main highlight today was a single adult Whooper Swan that spent most of its time at the west end.  It's not been a bad autumn at Belvide for Whoopers with this being the 3rd record so far. The Redshank was still present along with 80 Golden Plover and the pair of Stonechat all at the west end. This evening the gull roost held 4 adult Yellow-legged Gulls, 8 GBB Gull, 2500 LBB Gull and 50+ Herring Gull. A wildfowl count produced 113 Wigeon, 337 Teal, 28 Gadwall, 31 Shoveler, 556 Mallard, 290 Coot and an excellent 78 Goldeneye at dusk also 8 drake Goosander flew over this morning. Finaly an immature Peregrine was seen this afternoon
