BELVIDE BIRDING

• Tuesday, December 11, 2007 - Belvide Sunny SW 1

The Short-eared Owl showed well at the west end late afternoon. This is the first time in many years that one has hung around for longer than a day. 3 imm female Scaup were new arrivals and 2 Green Sandpiper were on the dam this afternoon. The Redshank was still at the west end and a Water Rail showed well in front of the Scott hide.

On the photo of one of the Scaup I was slightly concerned of the more blob tip on the bill instead of a fine nail but I think this is OK for immatures. Please post a comment if anyone disagrees.
