BELVIDE BIRDING

• Saturday, December 22, 2007 - Belvide Misty SSE 1-2 Then W 1-2

The main highlight today was a juvenile ICELAND GULL that came into roost at 4.05pm. This was a fresh coffee coloured bird with extensive dark bill and not the juv/2nd winter bird seen at chasewater last week and probably cop mere tonight. There were also 3 adult Yellow-legged Gulls in the roost. A Little Egret flew in from the east at 3.45pm and settled on the north shore. At least 1 Mealy Redpoll was with the Lesser Redpoll flock this morning and a fine male Brambling (photo) showed well at the gazebo feeding station. The pair of Stonechat remain at the west end and a pair of Goosander and 80 Goldeneye were counted at dusk. 52 Golden Plover flew over at midday.
