3 Nordic Jackdaw were again in the cattle field below the dam with 40 Jackdaws. A Green Sandpiper was also below the dam on a small pool. A drake Mandarin was a new arrival a single Yellow-legged Gull was in the roost and 81 Goldeneye were counted at dusk.
This year has been another enjoyable and productive year with me seeing 165 of the 167 species recorded this year. Only Pied Flycatcher and Lesser Spotted Woodpecker eluded me. The undoubted highlight was the Whiskered Tern that graced the reserve on the 6th of June and my only new bird for the reserve. Other highlights included a Spoonbill shortly after, a juvenile Glaucous Gull in February, 2 different Cetti's Warbler in September and October, Bevide's 6th ever Leach's Perel on October 18th, a brief Pectoral Sandpiper early November, juvenile Iceland Gull just before Christmas and finally the 3 Nordic Jackdaws have drawn a nice conclusion to the years end. I managed to visit Belvide 307 times this year.
I would like to wish all you regular blog readers a happy and bird filled new year and thanks for all your kind comments over the year. Role on tomorrow when I will be targeting 70+ species at Belvide. |
