Today I had a day off from Belvide and had a day out to Norfolk to see a White Crowned Sparrow. Although I had seen one 13 years ago at Seaforth, I thought it was time to refresh my memory and see another one. The bird had chosen a back garden in Cley village and was coming down to feed every half an hour on some seed put out on a graveled drive way. After a 50 minute wait the bird showed very well with the local House Sparrows and Greenfinch. It would only show for 1-2 minutes at a time before retreating to the back garden that was out of view. The viewing was very restricted allowing 30+ people to view at a time.
For those not familiar, White Crowned Sparrow is a North American species and is only the 4th record for Britain and another one in Ireland.
