As I woke up this morning I was shocked to see how much snow had fallen overnight. There must have been a good 4 inches on the ground. In my memory I can't remember such heavy snow fall in April. On arrival at Belvide at 7.30 this morning it was like a winter wonderland. It was very concerning to see 300+ Hirundines all grouped together over the water struggling to find food. There were 300+ Sand Martin, 12+ Swallow and just 1 House Martin. The reservoir plantation was very quiet except for 3 Chiiffchaff singing. A single Willow Warbler was by the Bryant hide. The WeBs count produced 8 Wigeon, 6 Teal, 26 Shoveler, 25 Mallard, 50 Gadwall, 134 Tufted Duck, 1 Pochard, 5 Ruddy Duck, 2 Little Grebe, 12 GC Grebe and 5 Greylag Geese. At least 100 Meadow Pipit were in fields at the west end.
