BELVIDE BIRDING

• Sunday, April 13, 2008 - Belvide Fair W 1-2

After 24 years of birding Belvide I have finaly put RING OUZEL to bed. I was walking by the fisherman's car park at 7.55am when what looked like a male flew overhead calling and headed towards the west marsh. There was no further sign after extensive searching. Another Whimbrel went thru to the north at 7.25am also 2 Common Sandpiper were new arrivals. The first Whitethroat of the year was in the west marsh and the Barn Owl has reappeared after an absence of 3 weeks again it was over the west marsh at 8.25am. A single Lesser Redpoll was along the west lane also a single Redwing in the north wood. A Green Woodpecker was in the reservoir plantation around midday.
