BELVIDE BIRDING

• Wednesday, September 3, 2008 - Belvide Heavy Afternoon Rain SW 3-4

A good afternoons birding with the undoubted highlight being a FULMAR that flew thru to the north east at 4.15pm. This is the 2nd record for Belvide following a bird on the 11th September 1989. A juvenile Spotted Redshank was present between 1325-1450 when it flew off to the west. 2 Greenshank, 7 Ringed Plover, 2 LRP, 1 Green Sandpiper and 4 Common Sandpiper were also present. There were 3 juvenile Black-necked Grebe infront of the Gazebo hide also 9 Little Grebe. The Greylag Goose record continues to rise with 225 today. 61 Gadwall and 22 Pochard were counted. A single Wheatear was still on the north shore.

I have just received information back on the colour ringed Sanderling we had on the 19th August. It was ringed on the 24th August 2007 at Asenko Village GHANA!!!!!!!!

The ringing group caught 15 Chiffchaff, 5 Willow Warbler, 2 Reed Warbler, 2 Blackcap, 1 Garden Warbler, 3 House Martin and 1 Sand Martin.
