OTHER SIGHTINGS

 

Kingfishers were recorded at Rode Pool, Byley, CF and EHF ~ Spotted Flycatchers bred at Wistaston (Joey the Swan) and Warmingham ~ a Wheatear was at EHF on the 4th and a Grey Wagtail on the 9th ~ 2 Willow Tits were regular at the FF feeding station ~ a pair of Blackcap were feeding 2 juvs at EHF on the 19th ~ Common and Lesser Whitethroats were regular at EHF ~ Reed and Sedge Warblers were singing at PHF throughout the month ~ at EHF/PHF Chiff Chaffs and Willow Warblers were moving around with the Long-tailed Tit flock and 60 Tree Sparrows were counted on the 31st

    a cattle egret flew in to a small pool on the estate at 14-45 on Friday 4th July and spent some time preening. It was still present at 16-30 but could not be relocated today, Saturday 5th July.

    The pair that arrived in my garden on Sunday 1 June have fledged two young this evening.

    Laid five eggs and hatched at least three but we missed what happened to the others.

    Hobby over the Flash friday 19th causing havoc with the lapwings before being chased away. Plenty of Linnets and Yellowhammers in the fields on the other side of the railway.
