Alvecote Pools SSSI

The highlight today was an Osprey at Mill Pool at around 1.30pm.  It was found by a keen eyed 'Bob the Birder' but was flushed when his mobile phone went off..... only kiddin' Mr Duckhouse, nice to have you down the Pools, please come again.  I was in the garden when I received Bob's call but after racing down to Pretty Pigs Pool I managed to see the bird being mobbed by an angry Common Buzzard in the distance.  The only other bird of note was an elusive female Northern Pintail on Upper Pool.

On Mill Pool there were 9 Common Shelduck and 28 Gadwall whilst around Teal and Upper Pools there was a pair of Greylag Geese and at least 32 Common Teal.  In the sheep fields near Shuttington there were still 50 Fieldfare present.
