Archie's British Birding Blogz

Friday 15 May 2009 - BALTIMORE ORIOLES in New York City!

Next Stop...... New York City!

Archie's British Birding Blogz will change to Archie's American Birding Blogz over the next week or so as I am taking my dearest Sammy to NYC for a week as a birthday treat.  I'm hoping to get a bit of birding done around Central Park at some point but I am guaranteed to see a few Baltimore Orioles anyway as I've got tickets to see the baseball team of the same name play against the New York Yankees at the brand new Yankee Stadium...... I can't wait!

See you when I get back!

Sunday 24 May 2009 - Hants fritillaries

Archie
I know this is old, but have only just got the latest Hants butterfly report so needed to check stuff before posting. Just need to make sure the butterflies you had at Old Winchester Hill in April were PBFs. The species has never been recorded there before, and doesn't usually emerge until early May, with the earliest date ever being 19th April. If you're 100% (I'm certainly not starting a fight!) then the county society's sightings report page is at http://www.hantsiow-butterflies.org.uk/sightings/sightings_form.htm

Hope the states weren't too much of a drag

About Me

Aye up folks! My name is Adam 'Archie' Archer, a birder from the West Midlands of England where the birds maybe slightly sh*te but the birders are among the best in the World. This is simply a blog about my birding experiences from my beloved Isles of Great Britain. I have been fortunate to see many great birding spectacles from Unst at the highest tip of Shetland to pelagic trips off the coast of the Isles of Scilly. I have also included sightings from around my home in North Warwickshire and my local patch Alvecote Pools a Site of Special Scientific Interest that straddles the Warwickshire & Staffordshire borders. Birding is a great hobby.... so please relax, smile & enjoy it. WARNING: SOME CONTENT MAY OFFEND! PLEASE NOTE THAT ANY COMMENTS LEFT ON THIS BLOG ARE NOT NECESSARILY THE VIEWS OF MY GOODSELF.... SO THERE!
