Finally got my boyfriend to agree to take me out of town for an afternoon birding (I'm fed up of being carless!) We decided to go to the Lac de Vaivre as the promise of showers made the presence of a bird hide very enticing. There wasn't much around (an artificial lake used for boating), the only duck being a single female mallard! However, there were a few whiskered terns present for a while, and three juvenile yellow-legged gulls. The hide was very firmly locked (I sometimes feel that France sticks two fingers up to birders!) so a very heavy downpour made us dash back to the car, not before I'd stopped to sketch a black kite winging across the lake in a hurry to find shelter.

Enfin mon petit copain était d'accord de m'emmener loin de la ville pour un après-midi d'observations (j'en ai marre d'être sans voiture!) On a décidé d'aller au Lac de Vaivre, vu que la météo avait annoncé des averses, la présence d'un observatoire nous a beaucoup attiré. Il n'y avait pas grand chose (un lac fait par l'homme pour les loisirs aquatiques), le seul canard étant un colvert femelle. Néanmoins, il y avait quelques guifettes moustacs présents pendant un moment, et trois jeunes goélands leucophés. L'observatoire était bel et bien fermé à clé (des fois j'ai l'impression que la France dit un grand 'va te faire foutre' aux ornithologues amaturs!) une averse forte nous a donc fait courir pour la voituire, mais pas avant que je ne fasse un croquis d'un milan noir qui volait vers l'autre côté du lac pour chercher un abri
